Not all home renovations are created equal?

Montreal Home renovations

You are finally planning to do some renovations on your Montreal area home; the list is long and, well, you are not sure where to start. You are hoping to spend your money wisely and perhaps get a little return on your expenses. Are you better off starting with repainting the exterior of your home or adding that much awaited recreation room in the basement? Before deciding it is important to know that not all renovations are created equal!

Home renovations are costly and time-consuming, don’t take them lightly; a dependable residential contractor will take the time to meet with you in your home to discuss the impending renovations.

A qualified Montreal general contractor will be able to inform you on the impact certain improvement projects have on the resale value of your home, as well as the current renovation trends that may give you the highest payback potential. (e.g.: kitchen and bathroom renovations, interior and exterior painting, upgrading flooring, building a deck…)

The benefit associated to renovating is influenced by many factors such as the location of your property, the neighbourhood, the value of your home and other homes in the area, and, most critical, the quality of the workmanship and the materials used for the renovation. [1]

A $40, 000 kitchen renovation in a home that is already at the top end of the market value average for the neighbourhood will not likely fetch much return; replacing the original kitchen in a home that is in the lower range for the neighbourhood would certainly be a smarter expense.

When planning home renovations, the home’s value must also be considered; adding a very expensive bathroom in a home that is valued at $100, 000 is not a rational choice!

If you are planning home renovations and are seeking a reliable and knowledgeable Montreal general contractor that is dedicated to quality work, contact Dilamco; our customers value the relationship we build with them and recognize our commitment to quality, budget and scheduled work.

Dilamco is an authorized APCHQ general contractor serving the Montreal area.
